The High Road to Taos Scenic Byway is one of the best ways to see the Land of Enchantment.
The drive from Santa Fe to Taos, New Mexico on the High Road to Taos Scenic Byway is less than 75 miles, but you won’t want to rush from point A to B. Although the journey could take fewer than three hours, you should leave plenty of extra time to appreciate the landscape, see the historic churches, and wander through mountain villages.
“The High Road to Taos Scenic Byway is one of the most profound ways to experience northern New Mexico between Santa Fe and Taos,” says acting New Mexico tourism secretary Lancing Adams. “The heritage and identity of the communities along the route are evident at every stop, from centuries-old churches and historic plazas to the art, traditions, and landscapes.”
